Build Equity Now emerged from a simple yet powerful vision: to create affordable housing that truly supports Portland’s working families. We are more than just a nonprofit; we are a movement dedicated to transforming how communities think about housing, sustainability, and community development.
At the core of our approach is mass timber construction, an innovative building method that brings a fresh perspective to affordable housing. By using engineered wood products that are strong, sustainable, and environmentally responsible, we’re creating structures that do more than just provide shelter—they represent a commitment to both community and ecological well-being.

For teachers, service workers, first responders, and all the essential workers who form the backbone of our community, our homes represent more than just shelter. We believe that where you work should be where you can afford to live, without financial strain or compromise.
